South region - Southampton & Plymouth news
We need you! Get involved with workshops in Southampton, from presentation skills, mental health, and getting customers to say ‘Yes!’. Get involved with literacy and numeracy workshops in Plymouth, and spend a day in the life of a Volunteer Coordinator.
Past and upcoming workshops
Over the last few months, we've run a number of workshops from our Southampton Centre. Ranging from Presentation Skills to Mental Health and Accountancy for Mentors to a really successful networking event for young people and Mentors (picture below).
Coming up we are running a Personal Finance session, another Marketing Panel and one of our Mentors will be running a workshop called ‘Getting Customers to say YES!’.
Literacy, language and numeracy for young people – can you help?
The Team in Plymouth is working hard to introduce and implement the literacy, language and numeracy (LLN) support for young people attending our programmes with particular focus on Enterprise.
Charlie Huitson, pictured supporting the Enterprise Day 3, is the current LLN lead for Plymouth; showing support in action.
However, the needs of the young people regarding literacy and numeracy are considered much earlier on in the process, and has been integrated as early as the Information session. What we aim over the next year is to further analyse, evaluate and improve our processes for implementing LLN support needs on our programmes.
If you feel you could bring something to supporting young people with LLN needs or reviewing the processes involved please contact Ivanna.Bedani@princes-trust.org.uk.
Networking event on 6th September – come along!
The Plymouth Volunteer Team will be holding a network meeting/coffee morning on 6th September from 10am – 12 noon. Topics to be covered will include an introduction to ‘A day in the life' of Volunteer Co-ordinator, Peter Hall (ppictured below), with special tips for filling in Volunteer expense forms.
