Updates on The Prince's Trust and L’Oreal’s ‘All Worth It’ partnership, Barclaycard’s ‘Together with Team’ programme, The Trust at Pride and more.
L’Oreal & Fairbridge
The L’Oreal/Prince’s Trust Farirbridge All Worth It partnership has launched this year and has led to a number of engagements that have really benefited young people taking part in Fairbridge. There have been sessions all over the UK, designed to develop confidence, communication, relationship and employability skills.
The biggest highlight of the partnership so far, was the ‘World of Work’ day in May at L’Oreal’s head office. Both the Kennington and Poplar Fairbridge teams attended the day, which, involved activities designed to help them improve their understanding and confidence of interviews. The young people also all got free goodie bags!
Barclaycard’s extensive volunteering support of the ‘Together with Team’ programme initiative across the UK was recently recognised at their Global Citizen Citizenship awards at the O2 in June. They won the award for ‘Access to Employment’ for 2017. Over 500 nominations were received, so it truly is a great achievement for Barclaycard and The Trust.
This video was made for the award ceremony and involves the South Thames College team from Tooting who both Barclaycard and The Trust have been closely working with over the past year.
Morgan Stanley’s Global Volunteer Month in London came to an end last week. It was another successful collaboration between Morgan Stanley and The Trust. They supported multiple programmes and also reviewed almost 50 young people’s CVs from across the South Region, as well as Northern Ireland, via email feedback. Their senior staff also took part in two Inspiring leader sessions with Young Ambassadors and a networking event at our Prince's Trust, Morgan Stanley Poplar Centre.
Samuel Wilson Loans Trust first panel
The Samuel Wilson Loans Trust (SWLT) growth loan initiative held its first panel last month. Former Enterprise young person, Stephanie Woolven, was the first person to be approved for the £10,000 loan and we expect more to be approved soon. There will be another panel coming up in October.
Prince’s Trust at Pride
On Saturday 8 July, Pulse, our LGBT+ network, took part in The Trust’s first ever official presence at the iconic Pride Day march in London. Around 79 staff, volunteers, Young Ambassadors, friends and family joined together to march through London and among them was Ashley Pegg, one of our London Mentors.
"People had travelled from all over the country – volunteers, staff and young ambassadors – and it was friendly, joyous, glitter-filled atmosphere. The crowds were out in full down Oxford and Regent Street and we high-fived as many people as possible as we walked past blasting our whistles.
Ashley is pictured (below and on the right) with colleagues at Pride.
A big thanks to everyone who came along to be part of the day and thanks also to the members of the V&S team who are leading Pride nationally; Sue Learoyd and Robin Browne and in particular Yannis Munro who led on Pulse’s Pride efforts this year.
