Volunteer for us

Volunteers are at the heart of everything we do

Last year Business Mentors donated over 220,000 hours to The Prince's Trust.

With your commitment, we are able to offer a support network to young people facing significant barriers to employment, education or training and we would like to thank you.

Why volunteer for The Trust?

The Prince’s Trust has always been heavily reliant on dedicated volunteers like you to help us in our mission of turning the lives of young people around.

The impact that volunteers, giving their time for free, can have on a young person is very powerful and can have long lasting effects. You could aid The Trust in a range of ways, with our regional teams ready to work with you to utilise your skills, knowledge and time to have the biggest impact on young people.

We have volunteers in our offices and centres, helping us do vital work to ensure that administrative tasks and development projects are undertaken to help continuously improve our offering to young people. Volunteers are also integral during and after programmes, either supporting delivery or providing one-to-one guidance to our young people through mentoring.

You don't need to have any experience, specialist skills or qualifications for the majority of our roles. The qualities we look for in volunteers are:

  • Reliability
  • Ability to relate to and empathise with young people and their aspirations
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, especially listening skills
  • Ability to be non-judgemental, self-aware, patient, understanding, flexible, positive and supportive in all situations
  • Ability to challenge own assumptions and negativity

Becoming a volunteer

  • Explore the roles – see the range of roles available for supporting The Trust
  • Enquiry – speak to a regional member of staff who will help identify your perfect role
  • Apply – complete an application form
  • Interview – attend an informal interview so we can find out more about you and your interests
  • Training – attend training to learn about The Trust, our young people and techniques for working with them
  • Appointment – once training is completed, you can be appointed as a volunteer and begin your journey with us

We aim to have all volunteers recruited within a six month period.
