With Celebrate Success around the corner, our Young Ambassador of the Year Award sponsor Mappin & Webb has been busy offering life-changing experiences to young entrepreneurs who have started their own businesses with our support.
In addition to their award sponsorship, Mappin & Webb generously design and manufacture all 22 Silver Apprentice Bowls that will be given to our winners and finalists on the 7th March - a special product that all silversmith apprentices are able to produce after their training.
This year Mappin & Webb - which first partnered with us in 2013 - not only wanted to donate the awards but also contribute in a meaningful way to our young people. Earlier this year, the team invited 10 young people to an Enterprise Day, including talks and workshops led by a number of key staff members from different areas of the business. The group was then given an exciting opportunity to visit Mappin & Webb’s flagship Regent Street store as well as their London Workshop.
The following week, Mappin & Webb invited two individuals back to their offices to spend a day at their Oxford Street offices to work with them to create the Celebrate Success trophies. Stella Ajao and Jenine Baptiste collaborated with the design teams on the final look of the 2016 trophies.
The aspiring entrepreneurs were able to experience how the trophies are made and then used state-of-the-art design software to create a series of designs.
Budding fashion designer Jenine Baptiste, 31, from London, said: "Spending the day with Mappin & Webb was such a great and inspiring experience. I gained practical advice in sales, finance and design from their team that I can apply to my business."
Stella Ajao, 29, who runs her own jewellery business in London, continued:
