    Our 4-week Get into Health programme, delivered in partnership with The Royal Wolverhampton, is a great opportunity for any young people who are interested in gaining valuable work experience and training in the NHS within one of the following roles, Healthcare Assistant, Laboratory Assistant, Housekeeping, Porter, Catering and Admin/Reception.

    How the course works

    Meet new people and gain practical experience by trying your hand at a number of new skills.

    You'll get to undertake work experience with an external employer within the industry, support with employability skills, improving your teamwork and communication skills along with boosting your confidence, interview skills and CV.

    You’ll also have the chance to benefit from support from one of our mentors to help you uncover your next steps. 

    Don't forget!

    • The programme will consist of 2 weeks of interactive training, followed by 2 weeks voluntary work
    • You'll gain practical hands-on work experience in a healthcare setting
    • You'll undertake training at New Cross Hospital, with work placements taking place at Cannock Chase Hospital (please note that there is a free shuttle bus that will take you to and from your placement back to New Cross)
    • The course includes the chance to work across one of the following roles; Healthcare Assistant, Laboratory Assistant, Housekeeping, Porter, Catering and Admin/Reception
    • You'll boost your confidence and strengthen your personal and employability skills, whilst receiving valuable training in areas including Customer Service, Communication, Patient Record Keeping/Confidentiality and Teamwork
    • You'll also have the opportunity to access paid employment with Royal Wolverhampton NHS Trust at the end of the 4 weeks

    The course kicks-off with a Taster Session on 29th September 2021. This session will give you the chance to meet the employer as well as other young people, find out more information and ask any questions about the programme.
