Answers

1. What is the outcomes survey for?

An outcomes survey is a short series of questions that we ask you to answer about what you are doing now. Surveys are sent out via email and are completed online.

Surveys usually take around 5 minutes to complete.

As a thank you for completing the survey, we will enter you into a free prize draw to win vouchers (to spend in a variety of high street shops).

Remember: You do not have to complete the surveys - but it does help us if you do.

2. Is it free to take part in the survey?

Yes. It is completely free to take part in the survey.

3. Why should I complete the survey?

We’re always looking to improve our programmes and your survey answers play a big part in this. By completing a survey, you are helping us to:

  • Understand whether our support has helped you into employment, volunteering, training or further education
  • Find out more about the overall impact of our support
  • Learn how we can make them even better for other young people in the future

As a charity, we also need to show the people who fund our programmes that we are making a difference. Outcome surveys enable us to do this and, as a result, raise funds so we can continue running more programmes that will help more young people.

4. How many surveys will I receive?

You will be asked to complete four surveys once you have completed a programme.

For young people who have set up a business with our support:

  • You will be sent your first survey link in an email six months after receiving your loan/grant or mentor

For young people who received a Development Award:

  • You will get your first survey link through email one week after receiving your award

For all other young people:

  • The first survey you will receive will arrive in an email called: The Prince's Trust Monthly Check In - What are you up to now?

This email will ask if you have recently started, or you're due to start:

  • Working
  • Running a business
  • Volunteering
  • Training
  • Studying

You will need to click/tap ‘Yes’ or ‘No’ based on which answer applies to you.

  • If you click ‘Yes’, you will then be taken to our outcomes survey
  • If you click ‘No’, that’s OK. Instead, you will receive another check in email for the next two months while you are still receiving progression support from us

Follow up outcome surveys are then sent (whether you are in one of the listed outcomes or not):

  • To young people who have set up a business with our support: 12, 24 and 36 months after receiving their loan/grant or mentor
  • To all other young people: 3, 6 and 12 months after your first check in

Good to know: The reason we send follow up surveys is that your answers over time will help us to understand the short and long-term benefits of our programmes.

5. What will I get asked in the outcomes survey?

The outcomes survey will ask questions about what you are doing now. For example:

  • Have you started working, running a business, volunteering, training or studying?
  • What's the name of your employer?
  • How many hours per week do you work?

Questions vary based on which programme you’ve participated in, what you are doing now, and how long it’s been since you finished the programme. If you are running a business, we will be interested to know how the business is doing and if there has been any growth.

Don't worry if you are not in any of the listed outcomes. We have included the option ‘something else’ because we are still interested to hear more about your current situation (e.g. unemployed, caring for someone, unable to work etc). This is also valuable information for us and will let us know if you need further support.

6. How long will it take to do?

The outcomes survey should only take five minutes to answer.

The number of questions can change depending on the answers you give us . For example, you get different questions if you are in a job compared to if you are on a course.

You will never be asked to answer more than nine questions.

7. How does it work?

For young people who started a business through Enterprise or received a Development Award:

  • You will receive your first surveys directly through email. You will be taken to the full outcomes survey once you click on the link provided

For all other young people:

  • We’ll first send you a monthly check in email that explains that we’d love to hear about what you are up to

Instead, you will receive another check in email for the next two months whil you are still receiving progression support from us

Follow-up survey emails will contain a link which will take you directly to the survey (applies to all programmes).

As a 'thank you' for completing the survey, you can choose to be entered into a free prize draw to win vouchers (to spend in a variety of high street shops). You’ll also get the chance to share any additional feedback or comments you have about your time with The Prince’s Trust.

Remember: You do not have to complete the survey - but it does help us if you do.

8. Why did I get the same email more than once?

If you did not respond to the monthly check in, we will send you another email one month later as a reminder.

9. If I have already completed the survey, why are you emailing me again?

We send out multiple outcomes surveys to help us understand if your situation has changed.

Follow up outcome surveys are then sent:

To young people who have set up a business with our support:

  • 6, 12, 24 and 36 months after receiving their loan/grant or mentor

To all other young people:

  • 3, 6 and 12 months after your first check in

This information helps us to improve what we do. It’s also useful for the people who fund our work as it helps us to work together more effectively to support even more young people.

10. Will you share my information with others?

The information is used by The Prince’s Trust and other organisations we work with to run, fund, and evaluate our programmes. None of the personal information you submit through the survey will be sold to third party organisations or used for marketing purposes.
We promise to always keep your personal information safe. If you’re like to find out more about how The Prince’s trust manages your data, you can read our Privacy Notice.

11. How did you get my email address?

When you joined The Prince’s Trust you filled in a form called the ‘Profile Form’. This asked you to provide your email address. On the Profile Form, you gave permission for us to use your information to support the way we run, fund, and evaluate our programmes.

We promise to always keep your personal information safe. If you’re like to find out more about how The Prince’s trust manages your data, you can read our Privacy Notice.

12. How does the prize draw work?

Every young person who completes a survey will be asked whether they would like to be entered into a prize draw to win £25 of Love2Shop vouchers.
Everyone who say ‘Yes’ will be entered into a daily prize draw. If you are successful, we’ll email you to let you know that you are a winner. If we cannot get in touch with you, we’ll try to contact you on the telephone. The voucher will be an email voucher. You can find out more details about how the prize draw works by reading our  Prize Draw Terms and Conditions (pdf, 118kb)
