TK Maxx and Homesense
The mission of the Prince’s Trust is to help young people transform their lives by giving them the confidence and skills to live, learn, and earn. Thanks to the phenomenal support of our partners TK Maxx and Homesense, we are able to reach hundreds of young people every year, and make this mission their reality.
TK Maxx and Homesense have been supporting The Prince's Trust since 2013 through our Get into and Achieve programmes, and are also the headline sponsors for our Prince's Trust Awards.
As one of our largest delivery partners of our Get into Retail programme, TK Maxx and Homesense are proud to have helped over 1000 young people, with 70% going on to get jobs with them.
This four week course develops young people’s skills in the retail sector and supports them into positive outcomes in retail.
Caroline Wales from Leeds completed the Get into Retail programme with TK Maxx three years ago after struggling to find employment because of her epilepsy.
Following the programme, Caroline secured a job with TK Maxx and was also awarded Young Achiever of the Year in last year’s Regional Prince’s Trust and TK Maxx & Homesense Awards.
Caroline said:
Caroline has also been awarded Happiest Associate at TK Maxx and was also presented with another award for her commitment to fundraising.
Sarah Dalton, her Store Manager, said:
Homesense, part of the TK Maxx family, appointed The Prince’s Trust as their national charity partner for 2016. Homesense are supporting the development of our Achieve programme, a personal development course aimed to re-engage 13 to 19-year-olds with education. Store associates and customers from across Homesense’s 55 UK stores are fundraising through their Christmas campaign, Hang A Bauble which has so far smashed it’s fundraising targets, and continues to be one of the Trust’s most successful fundraising campaigns.
Suzanne Inch, Head of Retail for Homesense said:
Furthermore, TK Maxx and Homesense are the headline sponsor of our Prince's Trust Awards which celebrate the young people supported by The Trust. Throughout autumn we host nine regional award ceremonies to pay tribute to the bravery, determination and sheer hard work that our young people demonstrate to an audience of their family and friends, as well as our network of partners and supporters. Our judging panel then select seven award winners to attend our national final in March.
Homesense also sponsor the Young Achiever Award which recognises the success of young people getting into employment, training or education and overcoming substantial barriers to transform their lives.
In 2016 to celebrate both our 40th anniversary and the beginning of our partnership with Homesense we visited 16 locations across the UK as part of our #partofPT Tour to raise awareness of our work. Check out our photo gallery below to see what we got up to.
