Shannon Yearsley
Shannon was constantly struggling with her self image and confidence. Suffering from a troubled home life which led to anxiety and OCD, she developed an eating disorder causing her weight to plummet.
Shannon was quiet and struggled to do anything by herself. Signing up with The Prince's Trust and securing a work placement gave her the confidence to take control of her life again.
Struggling with her under confidence, Shannon's mum became her protector, talking for her and accompanying her if she had to leave the house. It was her mum's suggestion to contact The Prince’s Trust to get her life back on track.
Initially the thought of mixing with other young people was daunting but it was one of the best things I’ve ever done. It let me find my voice and take control of my life again.
By the end of the programme she’d completed a work placement at a local counselling service and spoken to an audience of more than 100 people.
I’m so grateful to The Prince’s Trust. The work they do gives people like me the chance to better ourselves, overcome the fears and challenges we face and take control of our lives for good.
