Despite applying for multiple jobs and apprenticeships, Nathan found his application was always unsuccessful. With the support from Talent Match, Nathan has improved his employability skills and secured an apprenticeship.
Despite regular applications for jobs, Nathan Thomas found himself long-term unemployed. With the support from Talent Match, Nathan's confidence has improved dramatically and he's secured an apprenticeship.
Nathan, 21, from Middlesbrough, had never worked. He had tried hard to gain an apprenticeship or employment, sending applications out weekly and attending many interviews over the course of a year, but his applications were always unsuccessful. Nathan couldn't understand what he was doing wrong.
He was referred to Talent Match Middlesbrough where a dedicated Advocate did an assessment around his application process and interview technique. They worked together on brushing up each process and he learnt how to sell himself to a prospective employer and make his application stand out from others.
To overcome issues around his confidence, Nathan engaged with relevant training and skills development offered through the Talent Match Young People’s Panel. He also put himself forward to present to groups as part of his role with the Panel, including to the Core Partnership and at a Christmas event. Nathan never misses an opportunity to improve his skills and experience and continues to support others to achieve. He’s a vital part of the Talent Match team.
Nathan’s hard work, commitment and outstanding attitude have paid off; he has successfully secured a Local Environmental Service Apprenticeship with Middlesbrough Environment City. He’ll study NVQ L2 in Cleaning & Environmental Services through workplace learning. Nathan also recently won the Talent Match Outstanding Achiever Award 2015. Nathan has demonstrated his tireless energy, positive input and hard work.
