Little did Henna know that when she completed The Prince’s Trust Get into Health Services programme in Wolverhampton, she’d be helping patients during the COVID 19 pandemic. Henna is now a Healthcare Assistant.

Henna, aged 26, had wanted to work in the NHS for some time, however she didn’t feel she had the confidence to pursue her dream.  The longer Henna was out of work, the worse she felt about her employment prospects, she started to doubt she had the ability to succeed.

During the programme Henna travelled up to two hours per day, there and back, as she was determined to complete the programme, believing it was her opportunity to secure the skills she needed.

Henna said: ‘I wanted to feel useful again and help people and now I am. I’ll be caring for patients, while also developing skills that will help me to become a paramedic in the future. I’m nervous but excited at the same time, that I’m finally starting a career. The Prince’s Trust course helped me to see what I couldn’t quite see at the time, that I had skills that I could work on and the determination to succeed. It hasn’t been easy, but I’m proud of myself.  This time last year I was sat at home feeling helpless but now I’ll be helping others.  – I still can’t quite believe it!”
