Grant, 29, from Paisley was a keen gym goer and spent his free time learning about fitness and meeting people from the industry.

Making the decision to gain qualifications and pursue his dream of becoming a self-employed personal trainer, Grant completed a Level 2 Gym Instructor and Level 3 Personal Training qualification.

But when gyms were closed due to the Covid-19 pandemic, he was unable to get his business off the ground. Not letting this stop him, he began to adapt his plan to offer outdoor personal training sessions with clients and reached out to The Prince’s Trust for support.

The Trust were able to support Grant with a ‘Will it Work’ grant which he put towards the cost of building a website for his business Mindset Lifestyle. Grant also attended Enterprise sessions about Finance and Tax, Sales and Marketing and Pricing – all of which has allowed him to learn about the practicalities of running a business.

The experience has taken a little longer than expected because of the pandemic but Gina, my Prince’s Trust keyworker, has been very helpful. My website was essential for building brand awareness as well as for clients to book sessions and buy apparel. Without this perspective clients wouldn’t be able to access key information on what I offer and get in touch with me.

“My ambition is to have my outdoor personal training company up and running in March 2021. After that I’ll be working with The Trust to apply for further funding to pay for a van so I can be mobile and expand my client base.”
