The Prince’s Trust Get into Technology programme, with Amazon Web Services and delivered by Generation UK, moved to an online platform and saw the young people adapt and thrive, while getting up to speed with software and coding programmes such as Linux and Python.

Shaista, one of the young people taking part, said:

The course coordinators worked hard to ensure we were well prepared for remote learning, by providing us with the necessary resources. This has allowed us to continue with group work via breakout rooms, and also allowed the course tutor to help us individually through screen sharing."

The daily sessions have welcomed a diverse range of individuals to gain interest in a new sector, including ex-carers, hairdressers, graduates and gamers, to become certified cloud practitioners within 12-weeks and meet virtually with prospective employers.

Lauren Dean, Operations Manager at The Prince's Trust Doug Barrowman Centre in Greater Manchester, said: “The perseverance of the group has been impressive and they have grabbed the opportunity with both hands in the face of adversity, which is inspiring. If anyone can take on the challenge of learning remotely it’ll be these tech-savvy Trust-supported young people.”
