"I found out about The Prince's Trust when I was looking for work at the Job Centre. I felt ready and determined to do something but I didn't know how to start. They supported me to explore so many options, and as I wanted to work in retail, they urged me to take part in the Gap programme.

"I really enjoyed it and everyone was so friendly and approachable! They helped us so much and encouraged us to try new things. It always felt like we had a choice and they took us at our own pace.

"The first part of the course involved activities for us to boost our skills, update our CV & prepare for interviews. Then we put our skills into practice by completing placements in store which I loved.

I'm a carer, and Gap were understanding of that, which put me at ease.

"At first I was so nervous but everyone was so welcoming and smiley, I wanted to be part of the team instantly. There was never a day when it wasn't enjoyable and I couldn't wait to go back each day and do more!

Throughout the course I got to know everyone in my store and I loved helping customers, so I was delighted to secure a role at Gap and have worked there for over a year now and it's amazing!

"All the staff really are so supportive! They are a second family to me. There's a number of us here who started our journey with The Prince's Trust and it has been great to learn from them as they’ve shown us the ropes! Now when new people start in store who might be feeling like I did and a bit nervous, I love reassuring them and supporting them too. I couldn't be happier to be here!

I am so proud to have completed this course and to work at Gap. The Prince's Trust helps you in so many ways, and I would encourage anyone who wants to get involved or support The Trust - to do it - you have no idea how much of a difference it can make to young people like me. I am so grateful!
