Gap has opened its doors to 300 young people, over the past 10 years, delivering action-packed programmes to support young people to build their self-belief and retail experience to be the best they can be.

This 'be your best' ethos is at the heart of our work together, and Gap’s belief in the power of a first job always shines through. As part of Gap’s inspiring global ‘This Way Ahead’ mission, it’s our shared bold ambition that by 2020, five per cent of store role recruitment will be made up of young people supported through our partnership.

Beyond this, Gap's teams and customers across the UK continuously go above and beyond to get behind our partnership projects. From sharing their skills and time as part Gap’s volunteering month to taking steps to support young people through Future Steps and much more!

Earlier this year, over 76 teams across stores and its head office got involved in Future Steps, taking an incredible 131 million steps and raising over £25,000 to support young people.

On top of this, Gap has led the way by sharing its skills and insights to help us develop and create new innovative employability programmes, as well as driving new fundraising ideas and brand campaigns to help us reach even more young people.

For example, when you pass Gap's flagship store on Bond Street in London, you'll now see a brilliant window and in-store display series which showcases our young people's work. Why? Because Gap has launched a new visual merchandising course, giving young people the opportunity to learn about brand, product placement, design and store presentation - in line with the brand's values. The course has real impact, as job-ready young people will even have the chance to apply for Visual Merchandising and Sales Associate roles.

The course was designed by Prince's Trust Awards 'Mentor of the Year' winner Rahul.

Our partnership with Gap is one-of-a-kind and we are truly excited about our journey ahead, together. This year marks 10 years in partnership and we can’t wait to celebrate!

Rhiannon, from Salford Quays, is a recent Get into Retail course participant. She said of her experience:

Gap really wants to help! They help you build confidence and take the lead. I learnt many things and my favourite part was learning all about the different type of jeans. Everyone is just so encouraging and, although it’s busy, we work as a team. I enjoyed working with new people and customers as it helped my confidence. I would definitely recommend the programme; they support you to know what you need to do to get a job in retail.
