Supported by Barclays

Barclays has been partnering with The Prince’s Trust since 2013 and is proud to be the largest corporate supporter of the Team programme in this very special anniversary year.

Barclays and The Prince’s Trust are working together to help over 1,200 disadvantaged 16-25 year olds across the UK, giving them the skills and confidence that they need to turn their lives around and move into employment, education or training. This forms a key part of Barclays’ commitment to help five million young people, across the world by the end of 2015, develop the enterprise, employability and financial skills they need to fulfill their potential.

During this 25th anniversary year, Barclays employees are volunteering to support young people all over the UK, sharing their experience and expertise by delivering skills-based workshops. During these sessions, volunteers share tangible, real-life experiences and examples to bring a range of topics to life. Subjects covered include finding a work placement and writing a CV, practicing through mock interviews, building money-management and presentation delivery skills, and many other employability skills-based workshops.

Barclays employees have also mentored Prince’s Trust young people on a longer-term basis and even delivered inspirational speeches. Since September 2014, 344 Barclays employees have volunteered to support young people, giving approximately 4,200 hours of their time and we hope many more will over the next six months.

In addition to this, Barclays is reaching out to an additional 10,000 young people taking part in the Team programme across the UK, supporting them through the community project element of the programme. These community projects and others will help all of the participants gain vital skills in budgeting, planning, teamwork and collaboration, which are all transferrable into other aspects of life.

Kathleen Britain, Head of UK Community Investment at Barclays, says: "We are proud to support the Team programme as part of our ongoing partnership with The Prince’s Trust. Today we’re celebrating the anniversary of the Team programme and the inspiring young people who have taken part in it over the last 25 years. As part of our commitment to 5 Million Young Futures, we are committed to helping the next generation build the enterprise, employability and financial skills they need to achieve their potential.

Together, we are enabling young people across the UK to gain employment, become financially independent and ultimately contribute to growth in the local economy.

Together, we will have a lasting and positive impact on thousands of young lives.
