“I was struggling to find work and reached out to The Prince’s Trust to see if they could help sharpen my employability skills. After taking part in a Get Started with Boxing and job search course, I jumped at the chance to start my career in healthcare with Get into Admin.

“It saw me take part in a placement at a Bradford medical practice, where I got experience in lots of things, including finance, customer service and administration. It was also great to meet new people and friends.

I worked so hard and, when it came to the celebration event for completing the two-weeks, I was offered an interview by Parklands Medical Practice. My now colleagues were in the audience and were impressed with my speech, and the things I had learnt. I went on to get the job of receptionist in February and haven’t looked back since.

“COVID-19 has meant that we have adapted a lot of processes and the usual way of working, but being part of a team gives me such a boost and really helps during such a difficult time for everyone. It makes me feel proud that I’m doing my bit to help those who are poorly and need the support of doctors.

“We’re now busy setting up video calls for patients and I‘ve been told that the surgery is very happy with my work. The role has given me so much confidence and my aim over the next year is to work towards being a mental health healthcare assistant, where my passion lies.”
