Ieuan Kriel
Ieuan Kriel, 22 from Bradford, was struggling to find a job and felt low in confidence. However, after being signposted to The Prince’s Trust by his local Job Centre, he is now helping doctors on the frontline as a full-time medical receptionist.
“I was struggling to find work and reached out to The Prince’s Trust to see if they could help sharpen my employability skills. After taking part in a Get Started with Boxing and job search course, I jumped at the chance to start my career in healthcare with Get into Admin.
“It saw me take part in a placement at a Bradford medical practice, where I got experience in lots of things, including finance, customer service and administration. It was also great to meet new people and friends.
“COVID-19 has meant that we have adapted a lot of processes and the usual way of working, but being part of a team gives me such a boost and really helps during such a difficult time for everyone. It makes me feel proud that I’m doing my bit to help those who are poorly and need the support of doctors.
“We’re now busy setting up video calls for patients and I‘ve been told that the surgery is very happy with my work. The role has given me so much confidence and my aim over the next year is to work towards being a mental health healthcare assistant, where my passion lies.”
