Planned mediation between The Prince’s Trust and the Australian Government Solicitor (AGS), due to take place on 14th/15th December, was this week cancelled by the AGS.
The Prince’s Trust has plans to provide Fairbridge (Restored) with funds, to give victims and survivors the opportunity to make claims. However, the plans will not be able to progress until the meeting with the AGS takes place.
The AGS has said it hopes to now conduct the mediation in January but has yet to propose a date. No reason was given for the cancellation.
Dame Martina Milburn, Group Chief Executive, The Prince’s Trust, said: “This is extremely disappointing news and means further delays in Fairbridge being able to support victims and survivors.
“We remain committed to providing funds to Fairbridge and we hope the Australian authorities will agree to conclude matters with The Prince’s Trust as soon as possible so that no further delays occur.”
