The Garfield Weston Foundation, long-term supporters of The Prince’s Trust, have committed a major gift of £1.5m to support and scale its Explore programme.

This generous donation will help support young people facing the greatest disadvantage and adversity around the UK, providing them with the confidence and skills they need to live positive futures. The funding will enable The Trust to scale its Explore programme and help to secure its future, allowing it to increase its support for young people who are most in need.

The Prince’s Trust’s Explore programme is a vital lifeline for young people from some of the most disadvantaged communities across the UK. The free programme supports young people aged 16 to 25, specifically those with the most complex personal needs and who are furthest from the job market.

Many of these young people come from difficult backgrounds or face multiple obstacles in their everyday life. Explore helps them to take control of their own lives, guiding them to recognise the challenges they face whilst also supporting them to develop the skills and confidence they need to make positive change.

Frances Milner, Director of Fundraising at The Prince’s Trust said:

“We are enormously grateful for the generosity and commitment of the Garfield Weston Foundation. Explore is a crucial part of The Prince’s Trust’s work in helping young people across the UK who are most in need of the opportunities, guidance, and transformational support this programme provides."

This gift is truly an investment not just in The Trust’s future but also in the many futures of the young people who need us the most.

The Garfield Weston Foundation said:

“There are many young people in the UK who need additional help to thrive in life.  Our Trustees are delighted to support The Prince’s Trust and its work on Explore because of the intensive support it offers to young people from some of the UK’s most disadvantaged communities."

The work they do really does transform lives and we are proud to be partnering on this life-changing initiative to scale their work across the UK.
