We are delighted that our social care partnership with CrossReach, which supports young people in gaining a career in the sector, won a prestigious award at the Scottish Social Services Awards 2019.
Our Get Into Care with CrossReach programme was announced the winner of the Making Change Happen category at the annual ceremony.
The course includes employability support, interview skills training and 1 to 1 coaching with a guaranteed interview at the end of the programme.
The aim of our course is to enable young people to have a long and meaningful career in social care.
All of the seven young people who are now in employment with CrossReach continue to be supported in their on-going professional development, including vocational qualifications.
Craig Wilson, Senior Head of Operations, Prince’s Trust Scotland said:
We are big believers in strong partnership working in order to support more young people throughout Scotland. The social care sector offers stable and fulfilling careers, but many young people aren’t always aware of these opportunities. Our partnership with CrossReach is offering young people the chance to not only learn about this sector, but learn the essential skills needed, gain experience, improve their confidence and have access to jobs.
One of the participants on the course said:
I had no idea of how great and life changing it would be, as before I was just a woman with kids and not a lot of confidence. When I started this course, I very quickly realised I was so much more than that. I am so happy and proud to have been part of this programme. It has opened up a better version of myself.
Another course participant said
I have always had a passion to help others, but I didn’t believe in myself or think I would be successful. Now I can proudly say ‘I made it’. I now feel happier and positive about my life. I would like to thank all the staff at CrossReach and The Prince’s Trust. I have loved every minute.
