Our Enterprise programme goes from strength to strength in the East Midlands and several Trust-supported entrepreneurs were recognised recently at a special awards ceremony.

Jessica Sims, Rachel Wood and Sophia Madden were all nominated in categories at The Corby Business Awards, which celebrate the success of entrepreneurs from across Northamptonshire.

24-year-old Jessica Sims was named winner in the Best Health and Beauty category for her business Ruby Rose Health & Beauty. Jessica launched the business in early 2016, which is based on Corporation Street in Corby.

Rachel Wood, 28, was named runner up in the same category with her business High Maintenance Salon. Rachel recently expanded her business to open a second premises and last year won the Enterprise award at The Prince’s Trust Celebrate Success awards. She said,

There are so many other young people out there with ideas and aspirations but often they lack the confidence to take that first step. I was exactly the same but through Enterprise and the support of my mentor; I’ve managed to become an established business owner.

Finally Sophia Madden, whose business Mad2Perform provides performing arts and dance classes for children, was named Best Sole Trader. Sophia is dedicated to making a difference to the lives of students through their engagement and enjoyment in the performing arts.

Our Enterprise programme has helped over 80,000 young people realise their dream of working for themselves.
