Since our partnership with the ASOS Foundation begun in 2010, we’ve been able to reach thousands of young people through our ASOS in STEM content and Get into programmes.

To celebrate this fantastic milestone, we headed to the ASOS HQ on #GivingTuesday where we enjoyed a fun-filled evening alongside Celebrity Ambassador Roman Kemp. Whilst we were there we caught up with Victor and Dominic who both secured full-time roles at ASOS after completing the ASOS Get into Tech courses to find out how they’re doing.

Victor, 25, Quality Assurance Engineer

ASOS Foundation success story Victor

What was life like before The Prince’s Trust?

“I was unsure what to do with life if I’m honest. I was working part-time on a temporary contract which left me feeling uncertain about my future. I hit a real low point when I ended up homeless for a number of months. Whilst I was working on securing housing, I heard about The Prince’s Trust and an opportunity for a Taster Day for the ASOS Get into Tech programme came up and I was really happy when I managed to secure a place.”

What did you enjoy the most about the Get into Tech course?

“Everything! I loved being part of such a fantastic company, seeing how things work and learning about the different roles - everyone was so helpful. I particularly enjoyed working in the Mobile team and was thrilled to secure a role in the Quality Assurance team - that was in early 2016 and I haven’t looked back since.”

I really felt like the course was my second chance at life

What does a typical day at work involve?

“In the Quality Assurance team we work on the ASOS app, which involves exploring new features and testing different components so we can build the best quality app for our customers. I also work on improving the user experience and user interface with the app designers.”

What are you excited about for the future?

“I’m really excited about continuing my career at ASOS – one of my goals is to learn more about being an Android developer and I’m in the best place to do that. I love working with an inspiring and knowledgeable team – each day if different and I’m always picking up new skills.”

Dominic, 21, Tech Support Analyst

ASOS Foundation success story Dom

What was life like before The Prince’s Trust?

“Before the course I had spent a lot of time unemployed. I had an interest in IT and tech, but my lack of experience meant that I struggled to secure a job. That was until I found out about The Prince’s Trust and the ASOS Get into Tech programme. As soon as I attended the Taster Day I knew that this was the perfect course for me to be able to purse my dream career.”

What did you enjoy the most about the Get into Tech course?

“Everyone on the programme was so nice and would go out of their way to speak to us, sharing their insights and top tips. I always felt like part of the team and found working alongside such talented people really inspiring. The rotations in different roles were also great as there was always something new to learn and I got lots of hands-on experience in different departments.”

There is no way I would be doing what I am doing now if it wasn’t for The Prince’s Trust and ASOS.

What does a typical day at work involve?

“My team are the point of contact for more than 4,000 people who work at ASOS, helping to fix IT and mobile issues. Each day is different as there are always new people to speak to and new things to learn. In my team we ultimately help everyone and I love that.”

What are you excited about for the future?

“Life for me is great at the moment, I love coming to work and getting stuck in. There is so much opportunity to learn and gain new skills, as well as grow as a person. I have learnt so much and developed as a person. I can’t believe where I was 8 months ago and where I am now, I love every day.”
