This award category recognises young people who have been on Prince’s Trust Fairbridge or xl programmes, and have overcome significant personal barriers to develop new skills which enabled them to re-engage with education.
Callum was born prematurely with a complex blood disorder and placed into foster care shortly after his birth. Callum suffered at school: he was disruptive, lacked confidence and was isolated from his peers. Callum is now attending college and has direction. He is a credit to his family, his school and most importantly, to himself.
Connor, from Sheffield, Yorkshire was eight when he was excluded from mainstream education. He was sent to a new school but his attitude was so negative, he was at risk of being excluded from school again.
