Our National Celebrate Success Awards 2016

Our Celebrate Success Awards honour the achievements of young people supported by The Trust. These young people have succeeded against the odds, improved their chances in life and had a positive impact on their local community.

Celebrate Success winners 2016

Twenty one inspirational young people. Seven glittering award categories. One iconic venue.

Our Celebrate Success Awards, now in their 13th year, recognise disadvantaged young people who have overcome issues such as abuse, drug addiction, homelessness, depression and unemployment.

A series of regional events took place in Autumn 2016, to celebrate the achievements of our young people across the UK who have completed one of our programmes. These young people have defied all the odds, taken control of their future and gone on to be a huge success.

On Monday 7th March 2016, friends, family and supporters came together at the show-stopping London Palladium situated in the heart of London’s more popular shopping destinations, to celebrate the most inspiring young people from England, Scotland, Northern Ireland and Wales. The venue’s breath-taking auditorium was the perfect setting to honour such incredible stories of resilience and determination.

As thousands of guests filed in, laughter broke into whispers as people took their seats to watch the live stream of the action on the red carpet. The anticipation grew and the lights dimmed as Prince’s Trust Ambassadors and hosts for the afternoon, Ant and Dec, were welcomed to the stage.

Guests were treated to an opening performance of ‘Circle of Life’ sung by the Disney Voices, a choir formed by The Walt Disney Company staff, based in Hammersmith. Shortly followed by a performance by the glamorous Rita Ora.

Next up were our finalists; the reason everyone had travelled from far and wide to be there. The nominees all enjoyed their moment in the spotlight – even those who were lost for words!

During the show, Trust-supported magician and Prince’s Trust Ambassador, Dynamo, took to the London Palladium stage for an exclusive performance for our special Celebrate Success guests.

Our Chief Executive, Martina Milburn, took to the stage and delivered an inspirational speech to our President, HRH The Prince of Wales, to congratulate him on all his achievements over the past 40 years. Martina used three powerful words to describe our President’s loyalty to The Trust:

Vision. Leadership. Outstanding commitment.

Following Martina’s speech, we presented HRH The Prince of Wales with a special video showcasing some of The Trust’s highlights in the last 40 years.

HRH The Prince of Wales delivered an inspirational speech thanking all the Celebrity Ambassadors, corporate partners, delivery partners, staff and volunteers who make His Trust what it is. Inspired by His Royal Highness’s sensational speech, all two thousand guests got up from their seats to applause His Royal Highness.
