Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service welcomes
Fairbridge
Young people from The Prince’s Trust
Fairbridge programme recently took part in a one day taster course
with Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service’s Youth Engagement
Team
I had a boss day, I really enjoyed learning
about the equipment and how the fire stations work, I now know how
important the fire service is and why people shouldn’t make hoax
calls.
Georgia from the Fairbridge
programme
During the day their activities included water and foam drills,
teambuilding activities and hose drills – all of which was
executed by students wearing full fire kit!
Chris and Paige from the Fairbridge programme went on to
say:
“We had a really great time; we got to have a go at using a hose
and learnt all about the fire service. We all thought it was great
especially using the hose and learning how important it is not to
cause fires and how to be more safe if there is a fire”
Development Tutors commented that the young people had an
extremely entertaining and fun day, gaining experiences beneficial
to support the Fairbridge Programme.
John Morris of Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service Youth
Engagement Team commented that:
They were a really good group of young
people, they got involved in every activity and
enthusiastically displaying good team building and motivation
skills.
The Fairbridge programme works with young people aged 13-25 that
other organizations find difficult to engage for more information
