Lloyd's holds workshop for Prince's Trust young people

Lloyd’s opened its doors to seventeen young people being supported by The Prince’s Trust earlier this month to give their influencing skills a boost.

The group – who are all young ambassadors for The Prince’s Trust after taking part in one of the youth charity’s programmes – took part in a workshop designed to boost their confidence and hone their influencing skills.

Prince's Trust young people at LloydsEmployees from Lloyd's also joined the young people for lunch to hear how they are turning their lives around with help from The Prince’s Trust.

Steve Robertson, Managing Director of Market Services for Lloyd’s said: "As a business mentor for The Prince’s Trust Enterprise Programme, I am delighted that Lloyd's Charities Trust is supporting the youth charity’s work as part of the Brighter Futures for Londoners partnership. Boosting these young peoples’ influencing skills will really help them as they move into jobs and business and it was fantastic to see how much they got out of the workshop. It was also wonderful for our employees to hear their inspirational stories and learn more about the kind of barriers they are overcoming with help from The Prince’s Trust."

Prince’s Trust Young Ambassador, Emma Neale, said: ‘When organisations like Lloyd’s invest in The Prince’s Trust, young people who have had difficult starts and faced many hurdles are able to get closer to achieving their dreams."

The day's training is part of an ongoing schedule of activity as part of the wider Brighter Futures for Londoners partnership between The Prince’s Trust and Lloyd’s Charities Trust. In July, Lloyd’s hosted a celebratory event for disadvantaged young people who had finished one of the youth charity’s 12-week personal development programmes to turn their lives around. The event included a three-course meal for the course participants and their families and an opportunity to find out more about pursuing a career in the city.

Prince’s Trust Team leader, Marie Woolton, said: "We were so pleased that Lloyd’s hosted this celebration in support of these young people. It really was an extraordinary experience for the young group and one that they will remember for a long time."
