Chairman's update
Welcome to the Insurance Leadership
Group.
March 2011
I am delighted to send you my first
message since becoming Chairman of the Insurance Leadership Group
after taking over from Julian Enoizi, CEO, Argo. It has been a
pleasure working with Julian over the last two years and he has
been without doubt a very effective and inspirational Chairman. I
am extremely pleased that Julian Enoizi, CEO, Argo will stay on the
committee and continue to support me and The Trust in the
future.
It also gives me great pleasure to announce that supporting me
and The Trust over the next two years will be three new vice chairs
– James Geffen, Director, Miller; Elizabeth Foster, Managing
Director, Ingram Hawkins and Nock and Laurence Walker, CEO,
SSP.
Over the last five years the Insurance Leadership Group has
raised £4.5 million, bringing together insurance companies to help
young people turn their lives around. The support of the insurance
industry has been vital to the Trust in allowing it to help some of
the UK’s hardest to reach young people to get their lives back on
track through, what for many, has been a difficult few years.
As we enter 2011 with the news that almost a million young
people are struggling to find employment The Trust’s work has never
been more necessary. It is with this in mind that I am determined
to raise a further £1million in 2011, which will give hundreds of
young people the skills and confidence to find their first job.
It’s an ambitious target, but – with the support of the insurance
sector – it’s one that I think we can achieve.
