Citi
Citi continues to empower disadvantaged young
people across the UK.
Citi and the Citi Foundation, who have been supporting The
Prince’s Trust since 1986, have been committed to supporting the
Enterprise Programme since 2002. Their funds alone have already
helped over 350 disadvantaged young people to fulfill their
entrepreneurial dreams and now, thanks to the Citi Foundation’s
incredibly generous support in 2011, another 61 young people
will be given the opportunity to create a bright future for
themselves through enterprise.
At Citi we believe we have not only an
opportunity but an obligation to make a positive contribution to
the communities we serve. This is not a new thought, but something
baked into the way we run the company. While our philanthropy makes
a positive impact, we know that our business is where the real
power to make the largest impact lies- focusing on areas where we
can serve clients and produce results for our shareholders while at
the same time helping to improve communities, people and the
planet.

Today’s Young People; Tomorrow’s
Economy
Today’s Young People; Tomorrow’s
Economy is a report from The Trust and Citi
Foundation highlighting the potential financial benefits of helping
young people into self-employment or other work through the
Enterprise Programme.
By equipping unemployed young people with the
skills, confidence and motivation to move into jobs or
self-employment, the report suggests that the UK can reap the
rewards of economic growth.

2010 report ‘Undiscovered’, which suggests that up to 93,000
potential entrepreneurs, 16,000 mechanics and 31,000 social workers
could also be lost if youngsters cannot pursue their ambitions,

Investing in Futures
In
February 2011, Citi’s Lou McCrimlisk was instrumental in ensuring
that the financial community raised a record amount for The
Prince's Trust to help disadvantaged young people into work by
taking a key role in organising the 2011 Invest in Futures Gala
Dinner, supported by Bank of America Merrill Lynch, at the Natural
History Museum. Find

Inspiring the next generation
The Prince’s Trust is extremely grateful to Citi for
hosting its very valuable presentation training in October 2010,
for young people who have been through The Trust’s programmes and
now wish to give something back as Young Ambassadors. The
Trust was absolutely delighted that Joint CEO of Citi EMEA, Alberto
Verme, also attended and gave a talk which really inspired and
motivated the young people attending the event.
Citi analysts take over Portobello Market
In November
2010, Citi unleashed some 200 of their new analyst class on to the
streets of West London to become owners of their own market stalls
in their very own Apprentice style challenge.

Sharing skills and expertise
Citi employees continue to be involved directly with
the work of The Prince’s Trust through volunteering on both
long-term and short-term opportunities. Since September 2009,
146 young people have benefited from the support of Citi employees
sharing their skills and giving guidance to help improve their
employability and business skills:
It wasn’t just the young people who benefited
from the day; I learnt a lot from hearing about their life
experiences... It was a privilege to spend a day, quite apart from
the world banking and finance, with young adults thinking very
broadly about what they were going to do and how they were going to
do it. I would recommend it – it’s certainly
worthwhile.
