About the organisation
M&S are one of the UK’s leading retailers,
with over 21 million customers per week. They offer clothing
and home products, as well as foods. They have over 500 UK
stores and employ over 75,000 people in the UK and abroad.
They offer work placements to young people on The Prince’s Trust
programmes through their ‘Marks & Start’
programme – placing over 100 young people every year from
Team.
If the young person has a disability or other
health issues which will require any reasonable adjustment from the
store,
please complete the attached health questionnaire and
take this to the store when arranging the placement.
Only available to young people who:
- have the right to work in the UK
- have not got any unspent
convictions
- have never been dismissed
for misconduct, violence or dishonesty
- do not have an
alcohol/substance abuse dependency
- have not been on a ‘Marks
& Start’ placement before
What attributes are needed:
- Neat appearance
- Reliability
- Politeness
- Ability to read and write
What kind of working culture is there in this office?

What tasks might be involved?
- Serving customers – in the shop or cafe
- Warehousing
- Setting up displays
- Understanding stock control
