Equip your employees with the skills and
confidence they can put to work with The Prince's Trust Team
programme.
You can give your staff the best knowledge and
productivity tools available. But how can you give them a sense of
assurance and motivation? How can you turn them into more
proactive, self-starting contributors and team members? On a
Prince's Trust Team.
Team is a unique opportunity for employees. It is a personal
development course that works through bringing unemployed young
people together as a team to take on a series of challenges and
community projects.
Join Team
Through active involvement in this personal development
programme you will:
- really develop core competencies outside the workplace
- make a positive difference to the lives of disadvantaged young
people in your local community
Not only is this a chance to develop new skills and help your
career prospects you’ll also meet new people from different
backgrounds and gain new life experiences. You’ll be working in a
real environment with young people who have experienced
difficulties in life.
What is the Team programme?
Team helps unemployed 16-25 year olds get their lives working by
boosting confidence, motivation and skills through challenging
team-work in the community. The Prince’s Trust works with young
people who may have been left behind by the system and need
additional support.
Most Team participants:
- have struggled at school
- are long term unemployed
- are in or leaving care
- have been in trouble with the law
Through a 12 week personal development programme, Team re-engages
young people helping them to think about their futures.
Participants are involved in a range of activities which are
carried out under the guidance of a trained Team Leader and
include:
- spending a week at a residential activity centre
- undertaking a project that will benefit the local community,
using funds raised by the team (for example decorating at a
school)
- completing a work placement and reviewing their options for
after the course ends
- completing a team challenge that involves helping others in the
local community
- a final presentation where Team members recount their
experiences to an invited audience
Team makes a positive difference: over seven in ten of the young
people who complete Team go on to get a job, go back into education
or training.
How employees are involved in Team
Employees take part in a flexible 20 day programme of
activities, joining a group of up to 15 unemployed young people who
are on the broader 12 week programme.
During the programme, employees will take part in an
action-packed residential week, community projects and a final
presentation. To join a Team, employees will need the ability to
understand and identify with young people on the programme. There
are no age restrictions for employees and opportunities can be
tailored to individual development needs and may include:
- providing peer support and encouragement to the rest of the
team
- facilitating idea and planning sessions
