Marex Spectron donates Charity Day proceeds
to Fairbridge programme
The commodity and physical energy broker
made Fairbridge London’s biggest ever corporate contribution,
totalling almost £400,000.
Marex Spectron staff, who donated their commission
from the day, nominated The Prince's Trust Fairbridge
programme in London in recognition of the work it does with
disadvantaged young people.
Marex Spectron’s contribution is the largest corporate donation
ever received by Fairbridge in London and will support 124 young
people through the programme.
The firm’s New York office supported local
charity, The Children’s Storefront.
Prince’s Trust Ambassadors Tamsin Egerton and Gaby Roslin joined
sporting celebrities Lawrence Dallaglio, Lee Dixon and Zinzan
Brooke, visiting Marex Spectron’s offices and encouraging clients
to trade on the day in order to raise as much money as
possible.
Gavin Prentice, Marex Spectron’s Group Managing Director,
said:
We are absolutely delighted to support the
Fairbridge Programme, which works tirelessly to assist
disadvantaged young people. It is important that companies like
Marex Spectron work closely with organisations like The Prince’s
Trust to help young people become the next generation of the London
workforce.
The charity day was held in conjunction with the firms’ new
office opening by the London Mayor, Boris Johnson, who said:
Young people are one of this city's best
assets, but youth unemployment is unacceptably high. It is up to
London businesses to follow the example set by the Fairbridge
Programme and Marex Spectron today and step up to give back to
London, ensuring that nobody gets left behind.
Marex Spectron are Silver Patron’s of The Prince’s Trust.
