Indoor Climbing
At the Pembrokeshire Adventure Centre, we have
many different climbing experiences availiable to suit all. Open
all year round our indoor climbing wall is the ideal venue for
climbing regardless of what the weather is up to.
Half
day climbing tuition
This three hour session can be tailored to meet individual and
group requirements and includes:
- warming up and stretching ready to climb
- bouldering and climbing techniques
- an introduction to rope work and belay techniques
- coaching on your personal climbing performance
There is no need for you to have had any previous climbing
experience, though a basic level of fitness will help. All safety
equipment and qualified instruction is provided.
National Indoor Climbing Achievement Scheme (N.I.C.A.S.)
This nationally recognised award scheme is designed to offer a
safe, informative and fun introduction to climbing in an artificial
wall. There are a total of five different levels within the scheme,
each having a clear and concise training syllabus and assessment
criteria.
Candidates must complete a registration form and sections within
the part one Logbook.
The part one Logbook can be used for both level 1 and 2 awards
with in the scheme. A Certificate of competency for each level will
be awarded to the candidate after each assessment.
Pembrokeshire Adventure Centre is an Accredited Centre for
training and assessing the Level 1 and 2 awards within the National
Indoor Climbing Achievement Scheme (N.I.C.A.S.). Further details of

Level 1: Foundation Climber Award.
An entry level award aimed at complete novices, developing your
ability to climb safely whilst under supervision.
A minimum of three hours activity is required to complete this
award.
You are expected to have a basic level of fitness but no
previous climbing experience is required. All safety equipment and
instruction will be provided.
Level 2: Top rope Climber Award
A top rope competency award aimed at promoting best practice in
climbing and bouldering on artificial walls.
A minimum of eight hours spread over at least three sessions is
required to complete this award.
You are expected to have a basic level of fitness and should
have completed Level 1 foundation climber award before starting
this course. All safety equipment and instruction will be
provided.
Room
only
The climbing room is available to organised groups who wish to
use their own instructors*. You must be qualified to “Climbing Wall
Supervisor Award” (C.W.S.A.) as a minimum. Bookings can be taken
for ½ days, full days or evenings. The room comes equipped with
in-situ top ropes. A safety induction must be completed by the
group leader on their first visit to the climbing room.
*All equipment (including ropes), accident and instructor
indemnity insurance are the responsibility of the leader in
charge.
