About the scheme
This scheme is helping young people make
a lasting positive change to their lives inspired by the
London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games. It
will reach 500 young people aged 14-25 across the
UK by September 2012.
The London 2012 Games will bring millions of people from around
the world together, either as spectators or competitors in the
biggest sporting event on the planet.
The Prince's Trust is working in partnership with The Department
for Culture Media and Sport, and The Home Office's Positive
Futures project, (managed by Catch-22) to get young
people across the UK involved in the excitement.
Opportunity ‘Inspired by London 2012’ has been awarded the
Inspire Mark and is recognised by the London Organising
Committee of the Olympic and Paralympic Games (LOCOG) as playing a
valuable part in involving young people in the inspiration of the
Games, and in the Olympic and Paralympic Values.
The scheme has three levels, Bronze, Silver and
Gold, reflecting the increasing levels of skills and challenge.
Participants learn about the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic
Games and the Olympic and Paralympic Values. They are
encouraged to make the link between the motivation and commitment
needed by an athlete preparing for the 2012 Games, and their
desire to bring about positive change in their own lives.
Our interactive map will show scheme
activity building across the UK as the London 2012 Olympic and
Paralympic Games approach. It will include photos, news
stories and case studies of young people taking
part in the scheme. Keep checking this page for the
latest news.
