Business plan templates

Looking for help with writing your business plan? The Prince's Trust Enterprise programme can support you every step of the way as you set up your new business.

A business plan gives an outline of your business, the market in which it will operate, and how it aims to make money. Your business plan should allow you to answer this question: why will your business succeed when so many others fail?

The best business plans aren’t long or complex

The best business plans explain only the most important information – what you want to achieve, how you will get there and the things you need to do along the way.

It’s best to tackle a business plan in small chunks. The Prince's Trust business plan pack can help. This guide will help you to divide writing your business plan into sections, and explains the information that you need to complete each section.

Need help getting started? The Enterprise programme offers free training and support to explore your business idea, including one-to-one support to help you write your business plan. Don't try and do everything on your own, join the Enterprise programme.

Where to start

Download our templates below. The best place to start with your business plan is 'Section Two: All About You'. This is information which you will already know and will help to start the plan. You can then work through each section, sometimes it helps to approach each section individually rather than trying to write the whole thing at once. 'Section One: The Quick Pitch' should be written last - this is your executive summary, and you will need the information from the rest of the plan to complete it.
