The Prince's Trust ROSE project: Live rural, work rural

If you're living in a rural area in Yorkshire and the Humber and want to start your own business, we're ready to support you.

If you're aged 18-30 and have an idea for a business but are struggling to overcome the barriers of living in a rural area and can't raise all the cash you need, then we could help you get up and running.

With start-up support from The Prince's Trust ROSE (Rural Opportunities for Self Employment) you could get:

  • a low interest loan of up to £4,000 for a sole trader, or up to £5,000 for a partnership
  • a grant of up to £1,500 in special circumstances
  • a ROSE Communication Grant of up to £1,000 for tools to help you overcome rural barriers (i.e. IT equipment, website design, driving lessons or a business vehicle)
  • a test marketing grant of up to £250
  • ongoing business support and specialist advice such as our free Legal Helpline.
  • ongoing advice from Prince's Trust staff and a volunteer business mentor
  • peer networking

Rural Doesn't Mean Restricted
We can help you turn your dream into reality.

Are you eligible? Yes, if you:

  • live in a rural area of Yorkshire and The Humber

  • have not been able to get all the funding you need from other sources
  • have a good business idea and are ready to make it a reality
