Young people in or leaving care can apply for
any of our programmes. In addition we are delivering two specialist
care leaver projects in England and Scotland, both funded by the
Big Lottery Fund.
Who Cares
From 2012 to 2015, The Prince’s Trust in
Scotland will support 300 young care leavers with one to one
support to increase their confidence and self esteem and to develop
the social and personal skills they need to successfully move
towards independence.
From Care to Independence
From August 2012 to July 2017, The Prince's
Trust is delivering a new England-wide action research project
called ‘From Care to Independence.’ In partnership with the
National Children’s Bureau Research Centre (NCB) we will
explore ‘the best model of one to one support to help care
leavers into education, training, employment or volunteering and to
sustain this positive outcome.’ It will be the largest research
study of its kind in the UK. We will provide one to one support to
1000 care leavers across England through our staff, volunteers and
partner organisations. Each year we are inviting partner
organisations to be part of the research pool. This year our
partners are New Horizon, Foundation UK and Prospects.
In partnership with Headliners, we are
offering 200 care leavers the opportunity to do a photography
/media course giving them a voice. We are also offering
20 volunteer placements and opportunities to become Prince’s Trust
Young Ambassadors. Each year we will host the annual conference
during National Care Leavers’ Week. We will communicate with care
leavers, practitioners, policy makers and the general public. Over
the five year period, we will improve knowledge/skills, influence
policy and raise awareness about the needs of care leavers.
For more information or to get involved, please see details
at the bottom of this page.
