The Prince's Trust brings international fashion to
Yorkshire
Internationally renowned fashion designers
Jeff Banks CBE and Amanda Wakeley OBE teamed up with The Trust for
a preview of their latest collections.
Amanda Wakeley, whose clients include Scarlett Johansson,
Charlize Theron and Kate Winslet, chose The Prince's Trust’s
'Fashion With Dinner' event at Harewood House in Leeds to unveil
items from her latest collections. Renowned designer Jeff Banks CBE
also displayed clothing from his latest fashion ranges.
The event started with a champagne reception, followed by a
three-course dinner with fashion previews between courses. The
evening, hosted by Jeff Banks CBE, closed with an exclusive 'money
can’t buy' auction.
The fashion dinner raised thousands of pounds with all proceeds
going to The Prince's Trust in Yorkshire and Humber.
The evening was also supported by St. Tropez, the UK's leading
self-tan and skin finishing expert and London Fashion Week regular,
working with designers including Erdem, Roksanda Ilincic and House
of Holland.
Andy Farley, Head of Private Sector Fundraising, said:
We are honoured that both these fantastic
designers decided to show their latest ranges in aid of The
Prince’s Trust and it was a very glamorous occasion.
He continued, “Their support for The Trust is invaluable in
making sure we continue to raise money and provide help for those
young people in Yorkshire who are most disadvantaged. It is now
more important than ever that young people are given the
opportunities so they can make a real difference in their
lives.”
Jeff Banks CBE, who is also head of the Retail Leadership Group,
said:
The Prince’s Trust is such a fantastic charity
and it’s an honour to be able to showcase some of my latest ranges
at this event. The money raised from this really will make a
difference to many disadvantaged young people across Yorkshire and
The Humber.
Amanda Wakeley, won critical acclaim at London Fashion Week last
year and has developed an international reputation for designing
stylish, luxurious, womenswear and accessories. She says:
I'm so happy that my clothes can be used to
help raise money for such a worthy cause like The Prince's Trust.
It’s really inspiring knowing that the funds raised at the event
will provide support for thousands of young people across the
region and at a time when they need it most.
Thanks to funding from events like this, The Prince's Trust in
Yorkshire and The Humber aims to support 4,500 young people this
year, giving them the skills and confidence to find a job. More
than three in four young people on Prince’s Trust schemes move into
work, education or training.
St Tropez works with The Trust on various projects including the
annual Spring Ball, raising nearly £1 million so far. CEO Michelle
Feeney has also created The Prince's Trust Health and Beauty
Leadership Group – an active body of key industry professionals
working together to help young people enter and build careers
within the beauty industry.
