Prince’s Trust xl clubs provide a personal
development programme aimed at young people aged 13-19 at risk of
underachievement or exclusion from school. Activity areas include
Personal, Team and Interpersonal Skills, Active Citizenship,
Entrepreneurship and Enterprise, Preparation for Work and
Enrichment Projects. Through successful completion of units, club
members can gain QCF Award and Certificate sized
qualifications. These are awarded by Prince’s Trust
Qualifications, who have been formally approved as an awarding
organisation by Ofqual, the examinations regulator.
Support from The Prince’s Trust includes:
- all curriculum materials, resources,
training and verification
- a dedicated Prince’s Trust staff
member to help set up and take the club forward
- access to a network of xl clubs and
regional events to share good practice and ideas
- opportunities to get involved with
sports and corporate partners

xl Club partners
The West Midlands has 44 partners who deliver our
xl clubs across the region in a diverse network that spans as
far north as Stoke on Trent, south to Hereford, west to Bishops
Castle on the Welsh Border and east to Coventry and Nuneaton. Our
partners consist of mainstream schools, PRUs, special schools,
childrens’ services and the police and youth services. The xl club
advisers of whom we are very proud, are trained by The Prince’s
Trust and work tirelessly to support and encourage a wide array of
young people at risk of educational underachievement.
Congratulations to all our partners who submitted units for the
summer term EV. This was easily the largest submission from the
West Midlands: a total of 484 units, 77 of which were at level 2.
The rest were level 1 units. Of the 484 submissions 468 passed and
just 16 failed, a success rate of almost 97 per cent. This is
a true reflection of the hard work and dedication of our advisers.
Well done!
