Members of the Cardiff centre meet HRH The Prince of Wales
Staff and young people from the Cardiff centre
were invited to attend an event with HRH The Prince of Wales at his
estate at Llwynwermod in Cermarthenshire.
The
Prince met more than 70 young people who had been on The Prince's
Trust programmes in Wales, including 14 Young Ambassadors and the
team from Fairbridge De Cymru, who have all turned their lives
around. At the event, he chatted to the young people about their
experiences with The Trust, including Fairbridge.
Fairbridge young people Ovi and Brian created display boards,
mapped out their journeys and copied their certificates which were
displayed at the event. The preparations for the royal visit
enabled them to reflect on their experiences with Fairbridge and
acknowledge the progress they had made during their time with the
Cardiff centre and also provided a basis for discussion with the
Prince.
The event also saw Fairbridge young people and staff engage with
Prince's Trust supporters across Wales.
Antony Metcalfe, Fairbridge De Cymru centre manager, said,
The event was a very positive opportunity to
let our young people put across their stories and experiences with
Fairbridge to the Prince. It was a superb event that demonstrates
the impact of the joint organisation onto young people's lives
across Wales.
Joanne Micklewright, Outreach and Development Worker, said: "I
would like to thank The Prince's Trust for the opportunity to meet
some of the young people and supporters from The Prince's Trust in
Wales. It was a fantastic opportunity for our young people to hear
about their stories and to speak to others about their own. The day
was very successful and was very uplifting for all who
attended."
Ovi Bernard, Fairbridge Young Person, added:
I really enjoyed myself at the event. I thought
Prince Charles was interesting and talking to him really helped
boost my confidence.
