We hope you enjoy reading all about what’s happening in xl clubs across the region.

This page is designed to keep you in touch with the latest news from across the region. It's also where you'll be able to find out what to look forward to in coming months.

Prince’s Trust xl clubs provide a personal development programme aimed at young people aged 13-19 at risk of underachievement or exclusion from school. Activity areas include Personal, Team and Interpersonal Skills, Active Citizenship, Entrepreneurship and Enterprise, Preparation for Work and Enrichment Projects. Through successful completion of units, club members can gain QCF Award and Certificate sized qualifications. These are awarded by Prince’s Trust Qualifications, who have been formally approved as an awarding organisation by Ofqual, the examinations regulator.

Support from The Prince’s Trust includes:

  • all curriculum materials, resources, training and verification
  • a dedicated Prince’s Trust staff member to help set up and take the club forward
  • access to a network of xl clubs and regional events to share good practice and ideas
  • opportunities to get involved with sports and corporate partners

School Foods Trust.

The School Food Trust continues to provide small grants for Schools and Centres to run healthy eating initiatives and exiting food related events. Examples include planting an allotment to grow vegetables for an end of term celebration, researching world foods and then dining out at a restaurant of the student’s choice, cooking a meal for teachers and Prince’s Trust staff, and running a coffee morning at a local church for the elderly residents of the community. 2012 will be the last year for SFT funding so do sign up and encourage your students to take an active interest in what they eat.
