Good news for Torbay
The Prince’s Trust has announced plans to help
more young people in this part of Devon
Thanks to a new partnership with Torbay Development Agency, The
Prince's Trust will be able to change the lives of more young
people in Torbay.
With around one in seven young people in the
area struggling to find a job (14 per cent), the partnership
will offer new hope to youngsters who want to move forward in their
lives. More than three in four young people helped by The Prince’s
Trust move into work or training.
The first course to benefit from the new
funding will be The Trust’s Enterprise Programme, which gives young
people the skills and training they need to start their own
business or find a job.
Later this year, The Trust will also run a
course to help young people gain training and practical experience
in the hospitality sector. The aim of the programme is to help
young people access local employment opportunities in Torbay.
The partnership with Torbay Development Agency
will enable Prince’s Trust to run further programmes in Torbay this
year.
Following these courses, all young people will
receive ongoing mentoring support from The Prince’s Trust to help
them find a job.
Torbay Development Agency Chief Executive
Steve Parrock said: “The TDA is committed to
generating economic prosperity in the Bay through an intensive
range of initiatives including physical regeneration and economic
development activity such as this partnership with The Prince’s
Trust."He added: "We will work closely with The Trust to
ensure that we make a real difference to the lives and
opportunities of these disadvantaged young people, helping them
towards a brighter future in Torbay.”
