Rob
Hill
Rob, 31, from Gloucester had
a tough couple of years before he got involved with The Prince’s
Trust. He has gone on to build a successful business and
is now committed to supporting the next generation of young
people by offering them job opportunities.
Rob had got himself into debt through gambling and turned to
alcohol as a way of escaping from it. In 2005 after a heavy night
of gambling and drinking he had a car crash and spent the night in
a cell.
He decided to start again, declare himself bankrupt, moved
back home and turned his life around with help of The Prince’s
Trust Enterprise Programme. After receiving a grant from The
Prince’s Trust, he set up his own successful landscaping business,
'Great and Small Landscapes'.
His success story led to him being nominated for the Young
Ambassador’s Programme and since joining, Rob has been a committed
and vocal supporter of The Prince’s Trust.
He has volunteered his time to present at numerous events to
raise money for The Prince’s Trust, speaking openly about how he
has turned his life around. One of his speeches even inspired local
businessman Clive Hughes to donate £3,000 a year to The Trust - a
substantial amount of money that will make a huge difference to the
charity.
As a Young Ambassador, Rob also volunteers to support other
disadvantaged young people, inspiring them to change their lives in
the same way that he has.
With the support of The Prince’s Trust, Rob has managed to build
a successful business and he is also committed to supporting the
next generation of young people. He is offering employment
opportunities to young people in his community, with the hope that
he can help them change their futures for the better. He now has
one person working with him, with plans to take on more in the
future.
Rob said:
I am privileged to be a Young Ambassador and
represent The Prince’s Trust and the work that they do. Without the
support of the charity, I would not have been able to start my own
business and it is important that other young people receive the
same support to turn their lives around.
