Team participant speaks at Seminar on Scottish Youth

Leading Seaman Sean Jarvie spoke about his experiences as both a member and leader of The Trust's Team Programme to an audience including HRH The Prince of Wales.

Sean Jarvie meets HRHSean joined the Navy as a result of the confidence he built during his time on the Prince’s Trust Team Programme in Scotland.

Having been a member of the programme, when Sean discovered that the military had a formal relationship with The Prince’s Trust, he was keen to explore the opportunities available and give something back to the programme he benefited from.

Sean was seconded from his ship to act as an Assistant Team Leader and then a Team Leader with the Wester Hailes Team run by Stevenson College, Edinburgh.

I knew that I’d get a lot of personal satisfaction from leading the Team programme, but it’s also excellent professional progression for me as I see so many young men and women joining the forces in exactly the same position I was in nearly eight years ago and I’m now in a position to help them adjust better.

Leading Seaman Sean Jarvie

Sean made such an impression as a Team Leader, that he was called back to speak at the Scotland event and tell his story. Sean impressed the audience with his speech covering his journey from Team member to Team leader and demonstrating the benefit the partnership between the Prince’s Trust and the MoD brings to all parties.
