Over 16's get stuck into jam making
A group of our over 16's took a page out of
their granny's cookbooks this week and rediscovered the skills of
jam making.
As part of a State Street sponsored Mission Technology course,
the group of young people sourced and picked their own strawberries
and brambles. The young people brought what fruit hadn't been
munched (mostly by staff) back to the centre and spent a day
creating fabulous homemade preserves, curds and syrups.
Using fabric paints the young people also made a set of
beautiful toppers to complete the look of their finished
product.
As the day was intended to have a technological focus, the group
also took time out of the kitchen to create some incredible labels
and a brilliant website with an account of the day, written in
their own words.
