Coronation Street star visits North Manchester Centre
Alan Halsall, otherwise known as Tyrone Dobbs,
unveiled improvements to the Manchester Centre, transformed by
the hard work of staff from Capital & Regional.
Capital & Regional employees swapped their desks for paint
brushes and garden strimmers for two days, working in two teams at
the North Manchester and Salford Centres, re-decorating rooms and
sprucing up outside areas to improve the facilities on offer to
young people who attend the Fairbridge programme.
The Fairbridge programme supports
disengaged 13-25 year olds not in work, education or training
across Manchester to achieve their true potential and improve their
lives by providing flexible, bespoke confidence building and
learning activities from its North Manchester centres. At the North
Manchester site this included transforming an office to a meeting
space, improving the young people's IT suite and the music room. At
the Salford site a new arts and drama space was created and the
outside space greatly improved.
Alison Hill, Manager of the Fairbridge programme in North
Manchester said: We are so thrilled to see the results of Capital
& Regional's Legacy Project. Opportunities such as these are so
valuable to us and ensure that we can concentrate our funding on
young people rather than diverting it to premises costs.
She adds: The achievements of the two teams were capped off by
Alan Halsall unveiling the projects, providing a wonderful end to
what will be two fabulous days for the centre.
