Get Into Logistics and Contact Centres with QVC

Ten young people have been offered jobs at QVC in Knowsley after completing a Prince’s Trust programme to get them into work.

Amongst those to benefit from the programme is Gareth Lynch, 20, from Knowsley, who was unemployed before starting The Prince’s Trust Get into Logistics and Contact Centres course at QVC, which has a customer operations centre in Knowsley. Following the four week course Gareth was offered a job working in their warehouse.

He said:

The course was amazing and has really given me the confidence boost I needed. If it wasn't for The Prince’s Trust I would probably still be unemployed and unsure of what I was going to do.

Get Into Logistics and Contact Centres with QVCIn partnership with QVC, The Trust's Get into Logistics and Contact Centres course is open to 16-to-25-year-olds who are unemployed, have struggled at school, have been in care, or have been in trouble with the law.

The four week course provides hands-on experience in the logistics industry, as well as developing the young people’s confidence and motivation.

Young people also took part in CV writing workshops, mock job interviews and personal development classes, to help them get into work after the course. The Mayor of Knowsley, Councillor Christina O’Hare, visited QVC Knowsley to attend a ceremony recognising the achievements of the Prince’s Trust young people.

Frank Robinson, Human Resources Director, QVC UK, said:

This is a real achievement. We were delighted to be able to offer all ten candidates employment and I hope that this has given them an opportunity that they may not ordinarily have had. We wish them all good luck for the future.

Jackie Tyler, Regional Director for The Prince’s Trust in the North West, said:

With increasing levels of youth unemployment, the work of The Trust is more important than ever. With the help of companies like QVC, we are able to help these young people gain the skills and confidence to achieve their potential. We are extremely grateful to QVC for helping to change the lives of these young people for good.
