In 1997, The Prince's Trust began an innovative new partnership with The Premier League, The Football Foundation and The Professional Footballers' Association. The partnership would help young people in towns and cities succeed in life, through Team, The Trust's personal development programme.
The Premier League, the Football Foundation and the Professional Footballers' Association agreed to a joint donation of £3.8 million, to fund personal development courses until March 2005. The partnership proved successful and was extended it to 2008, after another £2m was pledged.
Over 60 Premier League and Football League Clubs are now providing facilities, personnel, and fundraising assistance to Teams across the country. This is vital support, encouraging attendance over the three months of Team. Clubs provide a room at a stadium, free match tickets, use of study support centres, motivational talks by club staff, venues for events and signed merchandise for fundraising.
Our partnership with football has now helped over 10,000 young people to tackle life and win.
