Get Into Cooking
Thanks to our highly successful Get Into Cooking course at the Nick Nairn Cooking School near Port of Menteith. Unemployed young Scots gained the skills they needed to find work in cooking, catering and hospitality. Learn more about the Get Into programme

Hugh Henry, Minister for Education and Young People, attended a Celebration Dinner at the School to help mark the achievements of 13 young chefs.

The dinner was prepared by the young people to mark the end of a 6 week course which offers the chance to gain vital hospitality industry experience. The wannabe chefs spent 5 weeks at Glasgow Metropolitan College learning all aspects of food preparation as well as gaining certificates in areas such as First Aid and Food Hygiene. They then took up the challenge of a week's residential at the prestigious Nick Nairn Cook School, finishing the course by preparing and serving a beautiful four course meal.

"It's great to see the enthusiasm that the 'Get Into Cooking' course has inspired in these young people, said Hugh Henry. "Nick Nairn's Cooking School and The Prince's Trust have helped to inspire them and have given them the chance to start a career in cooking. I wish them all the best for the future."
